Sleek and mean, the Vivid Air combines the consistent, flexible feel of a spring shock with the adjustability, adjustability and unprecedented weight savings of an air shock. Weighing 400 grams lighter than the Vivid Coil, this shock is unique in its class, built to tackle the toughest World Cup trails with the grace and playfulness of your trail bike.
The Twin Tube Solo Air spring can be adjusted with just one valve, effectively filling the positive and negative chambers at the same time. Inside the large volume outer air chamber is a second air chamber connected to the first through an outlet, effectively creating one large chamber. This creates a more linear spring stiffness unmatched by other air shocks. In addition, the Twin Tube Solo Air spring is better able to cope with the heat that occurs on long and difficult descents. Thanks to the Rapid Recovery Monarch rebound system, it provides perfect damping. The system “swallows up” quick consecutive hits and guarantees enough travel for stronger hits and big drops.
Hydraulic damping with IFP (independent floating piston) in an additional tank provides even more performance and more control over the bike. Low-speed compression can be easily adjusted with a washer.
The suspension should not wobble on rocky sections or break through after big landings.
That’s why the Dual Flow Adjust rebound includes two independent damping schemes that allow you to separate the rebound speed for big and small hits. Both rebound schemes are adjustable.
Hot Rod Thermocompensating needle guarantees stable rebound damping without damping. RockShox’s tuned thermoplastic resin core in the control rod expands as the shock heats up, effectively compensating for damping oil thinning due to heat.
Rapid recovery. A special set of adjustment pads inside the shock optimizes the performance of many shocks in quick succession. The damper returns to its original position faster, the contact with the ground increases and the notorious sagging is prevented.
Attention: The Vivid Air R2C rear shock is available in three different damping configurations (low, medium and high compression)! Depending on the relationship of the frame lever to the shock travel, the perfect setting can be achieved. Tune Platform refers to compression damping.
